Looking for the Best
Black Dog Names?
Here They Are!

I've collected a list of my 55 favorite black dog names to share with you!

As you can probably tell by now, I have a real soft spot in my heart for black dogs. My own black dog, Chase, is my “baby”. I know that there are many other sweet, lovable black dogs like him out there that are just waiting for someone to come along and “take a chance” on them.

If you are considering a black dog adoption , I hope you find the following list of my 55 favorite black dog names helpful in choosing the name for your new furbaby.

And if you just can’t seem to decide which name you should choose, ask yourself the following:

  • Do you like the name enough to repeat it many times a day for many years to come?
  • Does the name really suit your dog’s personality?
  • Is the name simple to pronounce so that it will be easy for your dog to understand?
  • Do you feel it will suite him even after he leaves puppyhood behind (if you’ve adopted a black dog puppy) and grows into an adult?
  • Is it the kind of name that will make people laugh at him (or you)?

With that in mind, why not make yourself a cup of herbal tea, sit back, relax and peruse the following list of names to see which one gets your heart thumping?

And for even more dog names , check out our pages on masculine dog names and female puppy names.
